Dahlia

I have to be honest: I was only able to get back to my photo challenge last week because of how loose the theme was. We were told only that our picture had to be one we took within 24 shots—no particular subject or angle or technique needed. Just a limited number of shutter clicks.

Well. That, I knew, was a challenge I couldn’t pass up. I’d recently planted my garden pots for the year, including some flowers. I’d been itching to photograph them. The challenge just gave me an extra reason.

This particular shot was my fourteenth out of the group. I’d started by photographing a different dahlia, but these petals—their colour and curves—pulled my attention away. It took a little work to get this particular shot, but it was worth it. I love how it came out.

I’m sure I’ll have more garden photos to share with you soon. But for now, I’m going to let this one shine on its own.
