For the first time in a long time, I can start this post by saying I’m quite happy with last month’s progress.
I accomplished quite a bit in September, and even checked a big goal off of my list. October is looking good so far, too, if these first few days are any indication.
But before we get into October, lets take a look back at September.
Novel-length WIPs
I made some good progress with N last month, even if it wasn’t quite as much as I’d hoped. I’m down to less than two chapters left to write before I finish the first draft, and I hope to have them done by the end of the month. I feel really close with this one, and so I’m eager to write those last few words.
But in the meantime, I can happily focus on having finished my read-through of CD. I’ve started making my marked edits now, too, which will amount to the fourth draft of this WIP. I’m optimistic in hoping I can do all of the edits this month, but I’d really like to have this ready to query in November. So that’s my new goal for this one.
Short stories
I have no real progress to report here again. I did find a contest I may enter, but my short stories really aren’t as much of a priority for me as my novels at the moment. I hope to pick them up a bit more soon, though.
Overall, I feel like I’m in a good spot with my writing right now. I’m not working on it every day yet, but I’m getting closer.
I’m also still debating whether I’ll take part in NaNoWriMo this year. I have a month to decide yet, and keep going back and forth on the idea, but leaning slightly toward it. Taking part, though, would mean figuring out what to write throughout the month, and that’s still a bit of a blank. But I’ll be sure to keep you posted.
