When James asked what I wanted to do for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, I wasn’t quite sure, at first, how to answer. We already had supper figured out: we’d be meeting my family at my mom’s and picking dinner up to eat there. It was the rest of the day that was in question.

After some thought—very, very little thought—I realized I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The fall weather had set in, and I wanted to take full advantage of it.
My hope was it would stay warm enough and clear enough that we could walk one of the trails near our city, maybe even capture some photos. We had a back-up plan involving movies, blankets, and, for me, coffee if it rained, but a walk in the leaves and sunshine was our first choice.
Our luck held. My birthday turned out to be a gorgeous day, and our walk was filled with a landscape of oranges, yellows, and maroons. We even managed to fit one movie in afterward before leaving for supper.
True, I didn’t get quite as many photos as I was hoping, but that was my own fault. I left my ISO too high from my last shoot. I was able to get one photo I’m happy with, though, and that’s enough for now.
