Who doesn’t love food? While I’ve cut back on the number of food-related posts on my blog lately, I don’t have it in me to stop posting them altogether. And I certainly can’t stop reading food-related blogs.
Today, as part of my monthly series of Favourite Five posts, I want to share five of my favourite food-related blogs with you. While I usually like them because of their recipe potential, I also enjoy reading some of the other posts that they share: things like kitchen gadget reviews, renovation projects, or a multitude of other subjects. I hope you enjoy them as much as I tend to.

I firmly believe that no matter how long you’ve been practicing an art, you can and should always keep learning. When it comes to writing, there are a lot of ways to do this: by attending workshops, taking classes, watching webinars… the list goes on.
One of my favourite ways is by keeping up with a variety of blogs. I follow a lot, some written by other writers, some by agents, and some by editors. Each one offers its own value, but there are some that seem to offer just a little something extra.

I try a lot of new recipes throughout the year. Sometimes they’re recipes I’ve made up, other times they’re recipes that have been perfected by home chefs and bakers across the internet. Either way, I enjoy the experience of trying something new.
When I find a recipe I really enjoy, I try to come back here and share it with all of you. I didn’t do that quite as often as I would have liked in 2017, but I did get a few recipes and recipe reviews up throughout the year.
Today, I want to share with you my favourite five from the bunch.

I talk about books a lot on this blog, and that isn’t likely to change any time soon. So why not kick off my new Favourite Five series with a book list?
According to Goodreads, I read 12 new books in 2017. Which doesn’t seem like very many, but they were well complemented by all of the books that I re-read. I don’t know about you, but re-reading books is something I simply can’t give up. There are some books that I love too much to only read once.
Today’s post, though, isn’t about those re-read books. As much as I love them, I’m always looking for new books to add to my read list. I’m happy to say that in 2017, I found quite a few that I’m likely to go back and re-read later on.
So here, in no particular order, are the five books I most enjoyed reading for the first time in 2017.
