Contrast

An apple on a black background.

I’m proud of this photo for a few different reasons.

First, there’s the whole meeting-the-photo-challenge aspect. Last week’s 52Frames Challenge was Extreme Contrast; essentially, we needed to capture an image that featured a heavy contrast between light and shadow, or between colours, or both. I went for a combination, and I think it worked out alright.

Besides that, though, I’m also rather proud of how sharp those water droplets came out using manual focus. I’ve been relying a little too much on auto-focus lately, and these droplets gave me a nice opportunity to do a check-in on my manual skills. I’m quite happy with how they turned out—sharp, without becoming the main focus of the photo.

It’s exactly how I was hoping it would turn out.
