I won’t lie: I’m only about sixty-per-cent sure this is a grasshopper. It might actually be a cricket, and I don’t know how to tell the difference on sight alone. If anyone is willing to correct me, I would be glad for the help.
Regardless, he was a surprisingly willing photo subject. He only circled the pole he was standing on once to get away from my camera, then stood still. I expected him to hop away as soon as I knelt down, never mind stuck my camera in his little face.
Instead I ended up with this rather nice portrait, and so I can’t thank that little grasshopper enough for his patience.
