Hello, all!
First off, I want to apologize for not having a recipe or recipe review to share with you this week. Things ended up being a bit busier than I had anticipated, so I didn’t have the chance to photograph a meal.
But, I did want to give you a post today. So, instead of a recipe, I’m going to tell you a bit about myself.
I’m going to talk to you about some of my favourite foods.
Fish/Shellfish
Okay, it’s true that I don’t like every type of fish and shellfish. But, I do like most of them.
Fish like salmon, cod and trout tend to be the ones I work with most often. They’re quick and easy to cook, and you can do so much with their flavours. Salmon, in particular, is one of my favourites. I like to give it either a Sweet and Spicy rub, or a Butter and Herb coating, depending on whether I’m working with a filet or steak.
In terms of Shellfish, I mostly go for lobster and mussels. Actually, to be honest, those are really the only types of shellfish I eat. Lobster is great, whether you’re eating it boiled with some butter or mixed into a bisque. And mussels are perfect with a white-wine sauce and some herbs.
Fruit
Once again, I don’t like every type of fruit that’s available. Although, to be honest, there are also a lot I haven’t tried yet.
The fruit I tend to eat most often is strawberries. You can do so much with them… mix them into a smoothie, chop them up and incorporate them into baking, or – my usual preference – just rinse them and eat them as they are. I’ll occasionally toss them with a bit of sugar if I end up with a slightly sour-tasting set, but usually I like to eat them as they are.
Cherries are another of my favourites, but I don’t get to have them very often. Because of their price and how little they’re available where I live, they’re definitely a treat for me. The best way I’ve found to eat them is, again, to just rinse them and pop them in your mouth.
Dessert
Okay, so maybe dessert isn’t exactly a type of food on the same level as fish and fruit. But you know what? I still love it.
You can get just about any taste out of dessert that you want. Sweet, sour, bitter, savoury… whatever. And you can get there with or without cooking or baking. In fact, some of the raw desserts are the best ones.
If I had to pick some of my favourite desserts, though, I think I would have to go with ice cream or cheesecake. I just love the flavourful creaminess of a good ice cream. And cheesecake just has such a great taste and texture to it, although that taste and texture can vary if you change up the flavour.
