Merry March, everyone! How did your February go? Did you accomplish everything that you wanted to?
Personally, I didn’t quite manage it. But I did come really close, and I’m happy with the progress I’ve made. Let’s take a look back on the month.
February’s goals
Here’s what I was hoping to accomplish in the month of February:
- Finish the first draft of Courting Death, my NaNoWriMo novel.
- Write and edit a new short story.
- Post to Instagram at least once per week.
- Post to Litsy at least once every two weeks.
That first goal, finishing the first draft of Courting Death, was the one I didn’t quite succeed on. That said, I did come really close. By the time February came to a close, I only had 7 scenes left to write. I should be completely finished in the next few days.
My other three goals, though, are ones that I can happily check off as complete. I finished off the short story I’d started in January, and I’ve already sent it off to be considered for publication. I also had no trouble getting a picture up on Instagram every week, and my Litsy post featured the photo I used for my recommendation for The Girl on the Train.
March’s goals
So, what is it I want to do now that March has come calling? Here’s an overview:
- Revise Baking Chaos.
- Sort out the point of view issues in V&L.
- Post to Litsy twice.
- Develop a Monthly Update graphic.
I’m taking things a little bit further this month, and this list doesn’t quite cover everything. For instance, I’d like to get another short story written and edited. That goal, though, is something that I hope becomes a given for every month, so I haven’t listed it here.
The goals I have listed should be doable. Baking Chaos is in a good place, editing-wise, and shouldn’t need a major revision. That said, there is still some revising I need to do on it. I should be able to get it done within the month.
The issues in V&L are another story altogether. While I love the novel, and I don’t want to give up on it, I’m fully aware that it needs a bit of an overhaul. The points of view, in particular, need to be sorted out a bit more. I have a week off in mid-March, and I’m hoping to do a lot of work on it then. I’m not likely to get everything sorted out and a full revision done–especially not with the Baking Chaos revision also taking place–but I should at least be able to sort out the POV problem.
For the Litsy posts, my plan is to go back through my old book recommendations and give each of them their own photo. It’ll be a bit of a long process, but March seems like as good a time as any to get started on it. The Monthly Updates graphic, on the other hand, should be a quick job; it’s not an enormous task by any means, but these posts just seem so lonely without a graphic of their own. I should have that remedied by the time I put together April’s post.
Well, that’s all I have for this month. How about you? Any big plans for March?
