Planetary

Three marbles, a glass table, and a lamp. That’s all it took for me to start thinking of space.

Okay, so they probably don’t really look like planets. But they remind me of planets, and that’s enough of a connection for a title.

I wasn’t really expecting these photos to come out quite as well as they did. I was planning on just working with that first marble, the clear one. I wanted to see how the light from the lamp would play through it. The glass table just seemed like the best surface to use.

Then I started taking the pictures, and suddenly… the marble was floating. Or appeared to be floating, anyway. So I added in a couple of others, switching out different colours until I got the contrast I was looking for.
