Have you ever tried dragon fruit? It has a very subtle flavour; it’s sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The texture is a bit different, too. The flesh is similar to that of a melon, and the seeds pop just the littlest bit when you bite into them.
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure if I like dragon fruit. I’ve bought it a few times, and I haven’t always finished it. But something keeps drawing me to it.
I think it may be the way it looks. That bright pink and green skin definitely grabs your attention when you’re browsing for fruit in the grocery store. It makes the dalmatian-style flesh inside so unexpected that, the first time you cut into the fruit, it almost seems to jump out at you.
I’ve also seen pictures of purple-fleshed dragon fruit, but I have yet to come across it in my own grocery store. I think it’s something that’d be really cool to see, though.
