In some ways, I’m very late in getting this recipe posted. I meant to have it up months ago, but, well, I just never seemed to get it written.
But you know what? Posting it now works so much better, because this Apple Cake is perfect for fall. Apples are ready to be picked, and the spiced vanilla base is the perfect flavour for this time of year. You really can’t go wrong with it.

Who doesn’t love pie?
Actually, scratch that. There’s a girl I work with who doesn’t even like pie, never mind love it. But you know what she did like when I brought them in to work? These Peach Hand Pies.
And do you know what you’ll like about these Peach Hand Pies? The way they taste, of course, but also the fact that they’re fairly easy to make. Yes, they take a fair bit of time, but it’s time spent on easy tasks, I swear.

I’m not gonna lie: strawberries are one of my go-to fruits. I turn to them regularly, whether it’s to eat them as they are or to use them in a recipe of some sort. You don’t have to look far for proof on that last point; just check out the “strawberry” and “strawberries” tags here on my blog.
In these Strawberry and Cream Cupcakes, however, the strawberry flavour is just a little more subtle than you might expect. It’s definitely there, it’s just not overpowering. Instead, it’s nicely balanced by a soft, creamy vanilla base–perfect for a light-tasting dessert.

I know this may seem like I’m contradicting what I said in my last recipe post about not being a big fan of pasta, but I’m going to give you another pasta-related recipe.
This time, though, it’s a slightly different version of one of my family’s recipes.
Macaroni and Cheese has come so far in its lifetime. It started out pretty simple, comprised of just macaroni noodles, cheese and butter. Now, restaurants are serving the dish with anything from a combination of cheeses to a heaping pile of lobster. It’s become a comfort food with a gourmet twist, and a part of me absolutely loves that. But admittedly, that could just be because I love the lobster.
