Monthly update: February 2018

It’s February! You know, January somehow felt really long. I’m not even really sure why. It was a busy month; you’d think it would have flown by.

Regardless, February has come, and I’m ready for it. I’m ready to slow down and breath a little more often, to start on this month’s goals, to prepare for spring. I’m ready for warmer days (please, please let February bring warmer days!) and cozy nights. I’m… just ready, I guess.

Before I jump into February, though, I suppose we’d better take a look back at January.

January’s goals

  1. Take a class on Master Class.
  2. Edit 25,000 words of CD.
  3. Finish editing one short story.

Okay, I’ll admit it: I didn’t fully accomplish these. I did start a class on Master Class, but I didn’t get it finished. I’m going to continue it through February, though, so I should have it finished soon.

I also made some progress toward my CD goal. I didn’t reach 25,000 words, but I did get about 16,000 words edited. Plus, I figured out a subplot problem I had going on, fleshed out one of my side characters, and straightened out a couple of timeline bumps. So I had some semi-success in that area.

But that last goal? The one about editing a short story? Yeah, that one was a total failure. I’m not sure I even touched one of my short stories in January. So I’m going to have step things up in that area.

Which brings me to February.

February’s goals

  1. Finish the class on Master Class.
  2. Edit 20,000 words of CD.
  3. Edit one short story.
  4. Put together a Print Shop promo plan.

Much of this goal list is the same as January, with some slight adjustment in the Master Class and CD goals.

What’s new, though, is that Print Shop promo plan goal. If I want to make my little Print Shop a success, I need to promote it. And in order to do that well, I need a plan. So I’m going to take some time this month to put one together.

There you go–those are my goals for February. What are yours?

  1. I’m enjoying the lengthening days as we inch closer to June. Sounds like you’ve made some good editing progress! Sometimes that doesn’t feel as good as increasing our word count, but so important nonetheless.

    1. I’m enjoying them, too–the extra bit of light each day makes such a big difference! And while the progress doesn’t feel as good, it does feel good in it’s own way. Getting past those bumps or figuring out those solutions always brings a unique sense of accomplishment. 🙂
