Wednesday links: Online publicity

I love regularly reading tips and advice articles in certain subjects — particularly writing and publishing. I don’t always need the information right then, but I know that it’ll eventually come in handy. Or at least, I hope it will.

I know there are a lot of other people out there who feel the same way I do, but sometimes it can be difficult to find every useful advice article that’s out there. So I thought I’d bring you a few. Here are the tips and advice articles that jumped out at me the most over the past week.

  1. How to Save Money and Do Online Book Publicity Yourself, from Jane Friedman: Are you just about ready to try some online book promotion? Then you may want to check out this post, written by author and publicist Fauzia Burke. Excerpt: “I’ll be honest: publicity is not rocket science. If you are committed to the process, you can do it yourself. It will take you longer, and you will certainly spend many hours chasing opportunities, but you’ll save money.”

    1. I’ve done a bit of promo/publicity work in another field, and I found it fun. It can be difficult at times, and takes some dedication, but I think it’s something I’d like to have a hand in once I have a book ready for it.
