My first Sunday Update

I’ve decided to start up a new type of weekly post here on my blog: Sunday Updates. These are pretty straight-forward, and the title is pretty self-explanatory. Each Sunday, I’ll drop by and update you on how certain things are going.

I know many readers may not be interested in this, so it’s mostly an extra bit of motivation for myself. I’ve found that having something that keeps track of what I’ve accomplished–or didn’t accomplish, as the case may be–makes me work a bit more. I like having something that makes me accountable. If I don’t, I often end up accepting flimsy excuses for my lack of progress. It’s a habit that I don’t like, and one that I’m hoping to break.

Anyway, these updates will look at a variety of things. I may talk about my fiction writing, or blog posts, or photography. Or, it could be any combination of those things. It all depends on my goals for the week and what I manage to get done. Each update will mark the start of a new week, meaning I’ll be writing about what I got done from the previous Sunday morning until Saturday night.

So, if you’re interested in keeping up with my updates, just click on through the break and I’ll bring you up to speed with the first one.

I guess the logical place to start here would be with my goals for the week. I set out to revise at least five chapters of V&L (my code-name for one of my current works-in-progress) and 15 printed-off pages of C&C (work-in-progress number two). In terms of my blog, I wanted to get my Peach Streusel Muffin Recipe Review ready and posted, and start on a My Thoughts on Writing post.

I didn’t quite manage to get all of that done. I managed the five chapters of V&L, but didn’t get the 15 pages of C&C done. I did, however, figure out a major motivation for one of my V&L characters, so that was a nice little bonus.

I also got the Recipe Review finished by the middle of the week, and had it posted on Friday. Plus, I perfected a new recipe that I’d like to share with you all; I did the photography for it early in the week, and I’m hoping to share it here in another week or two.

I didn’t, however, get started on that My Thoughts on Writing piece. So, that goal is carrying over to this week.

And that, my friends, brings me to my goals for the coming week. In no particular order, here they are:

  1. Write that new My Thoughts on Writing post–and, if possible, get it posted.
  2. Revise five more chapters of V&L.
  3. Revise 10 printed-off pages of C&C.
  4. Edit those new recipe photos.

Based on this past week, I think those should all be do-able. I’ll keep you posted on how they go.

How about you? Did you accomplish everything you were hoping to this week?
